The puck line is hockey’s handicap bet, and it is almost always set at 1.5 goals. A favourite at -1.5 must win by two goals or more for a bet on it to win. The underdog at +1.5 wins if it wins outright or loses by a single goal. Because most NHL games are close, the puck line prices differ a lot from the moneyline. Our Puck Line Betting page walks through it.
A total is a bet on whether the combined goals finish over or under a set number, commonly in the range of 5.5 or 6. Most sportsbooks count regular-season overtime goals toward the total, but a shootout is usually settled differently, so the house rules matter. Empty-net goals count too, which is why a late goal can flip a total. Read our Hockey Totals page before you bet.
A moneyline is a bet on who wins the game, with no margin involved, and in the NHL it usually includes overtime and the shootout. The puck line adds a 1.5-goal handicap, so the margin matters as well as the winner. As a hypothetical example, a favourite at -200 implies about 66.7%, and the puck line on the same team will carry a very different price. See our NHL Betting page.
Yes, in-play markets let you bet after the puck drops, and the lines move with the score, penalties and time left. Prices update quickly and markets can be paused after a goal or a major penalty, so a bet you meant to place may be unavailable a moment later. Our Live Hockey Betting page explains how in-play markets behave and how to keep a session under control.
Futures markets on the Stanley Cup are common in hockey betting, but which ones are open depends on the time of year and on the sportsbook, so check Rexbet directly rather than relying on this guide. A futures bet ties up your stake until the final is decided. Our Stanley Cup Odds and Futures page explains how those prices are built.
